Hi, I’m Tom – a Person-Centred Counsellor

So, what does person-centred counselling actually mean for you?

It means that you are at the heart of the work we do together. I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, instead I see you as the expert in your own life. My role is to support you in exploring your thoughts, emotions, and experiences - helping you find your own answers in a way that feels right for you.

I offer a calm, respectful, and non-judgmental space where you can feel safe to talk openly about whatever you’re facing - past or present. Whether you’re dealing with something specific or simply feeling off balance, we can work together at your pace.

I support both adults and young people, offering sessions in-person in Chester or online via secure video calls (Teams) - whatever suits your lifestyle and comfort best.
My Journey
" I am passionate about what I do. To be a counsellor and working with different people everyday with their own unique personal challenges, gives me pure joy knowing that I'm helping them work towards improving their lives "

In 2006, I joined the military and served for six years, completing deployments in Northern Ireland, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In 2012, I was medically discharged following injuries sustained during my service in Afghanistan.

Transitioning back into civilian life was incredibly challenging. I experienced significant struggles with depression, anxiety, and the impact of trauma, and I turned to alcohol and substance use as a way of coping. With the support of my friends, family, and ultimately a counsellor, I was able to begin making sense of what I was going through.

Engaging in therapy gave me the tools to understand myself better, manage my emotions more effectively, and begin the process of healing. This experience had a profound impact on me - and it ultimately inspired my decision to pursue a career in psychology and counselling.

Today, my mission is to support others through their own challenges. No one should have to face difficult times alone, and I’m committed to providing the kind of compassionate, non-judgmental support that made such a difference in my own life.
