About me

Thomas Quayle, BSc, MSc, MA, GMBPsS, MBACP.

If you’re someone who finds it hard to open up, you’re not alone.

A lot of the men I work with aren’t used to talking about how they feel.
They’ve spent years dealing with things on their own - I was the same.

My Journey

" I am passionate about what I do. To be a counsellor and working with different people everyday with their own unique personal challenges, gives me pure joy knowing that I'm helping them work towards improving their lives "

My Background:

In 2006, I joined the military and served for six years, completing deployments in Northern Ireland, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In 2012, I was medically discharged following injuries sustained during my service in Afghanistan.

My Experience:

When I left the military, I struggled more than I expected.
I was dealing with depression, anxiety, and the impact of what I’d experienced - but like a lot of men, I didn’t talk about it.. I experienced significant struggles with depression, anxiety, and the impact of trauma, and I turned to alcohol, gambling, and other ways of coping - anything that helped me avoid what I was feeling.

Why I Do This:

With the support of my friends, family, and ultimately a counsellor, I was able to begin making sense of what I was going through.

Engaging in therapy gave me the tools to understand myself better, manage my emotions more effectively, and begin the process of healing. This experience changed things for me - and it’s what led me to do this work today.

How I Work:

Today, my mission is to support others through their own challenges. I don’t think anyone should have to deal with this on their own, and I’m committed to providing the kind of compassionate, non-judgmental support that made such a difference in my own life.

I know what it’s like to struggle and not talk about it - which is why I work in a way that feels natural, not forced.
