The final step suggested by my website building platform was simply "start a blog," as if the content would materialize and all I'd need to do is upload it.
But how does one begin a blog when crafting an Instagram post is a challenge?
Feeling somewhat disconnected from the digital realm and not particularly fond of writing, largely due to my dyslexia (I'll elaborate on this later), the prospect of starting a blog feels daunting.
What's the next step? Like many, I turned to Google for advice on blog writing. "Share your story," "make it personal," "be relatable," the search results advised.
My intention is to explore some difficult topics, such as gambling addiction, alcohol and drug addiction, self identity, and more, in the hope that they resonate with someone, perhaps even provide insight, but primarily so that no one feels as isolated as I once did.
And so, we embark on this new journey, unprepared and daunted, yet eager to share. No holds barred; no secrets kept.
I've named this blog "Frontline to Frontline," a title that I have chosen as it reflects my journey from the battlefields of Afghanistan through struggles with mental health, substance abuse, and gambling, leading up to my current engagement in mental health services.
If you're reading this, I appreciate your time, and if any of the subjects discussed in these blogs strikes a chord or seems familiar, please remember you're not alone—assistance is available.
I plan to update this blog monthly and seeing where the journey takes us, please feel free to leave a comment and get involved.
Here we go...
